Role Summary: The Infection Prevention Nurse plays a crucial role in our healthcare team, reporting directly to the Director of Nursing. This position collaborates closely with the Medical Director to establish a comprehensive infection prevention strategy that adheres to scientific principles and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to formulate, implement, and assess annual infection prevention objectives and plans.
  • Engage with facility leadership, healthcare professionals, and local and national organizations to promote infection prevention initiatives.
  • Oversee the management of infection prevention, epidemiology, and safety programs within the facility.
  • Monitor and report on healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections.
  • Facilitate the goal-setting process for infection-related targets across various departments.
  • Lead the industrial hygiene program to identify and mitigate workplace health risks.
  • Participate in national collaboratives and ensure compliance with external reporting requirements.
  • Educate staff, volunteers, and medical personnel on infection control practices and respond to trends or outbreaks.
  • Ensure that comprehensive training on infection prevention is accessible to all relevant parties.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed on relevant regulations and ensure compliance with infection control standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, or a related healthcare field.
  • Specialized training in Infection Prevention and Control through accredited programs.
  • National certification in Infection Prevention and Control is required, or completion of certification within six months of hire.
