Telemetry Control Responsibilities:

The Cardiac Monitoring Specialist is integral to the cardiology unit, overseeing continuous cardiac monitoring and ensuring effective communication within the telemetry control unit. This role involves:

  • Identifying cardiac rhythms and recognizing abnormal or life-threatening conditions.
  • Communicating critical medical information to the appropriate healthcare staff.
  • Managing the assignment and maintenance of cardiac telemetry equipment.
  • Documenting cardiac rhythm interpretations and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Coordinating emergency responses and ensuring compliance with infection control practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Distributing cardiac telemetry equipment to nursing staff as needed.
  • Monitoring and documenting electrocardiograms for hospitalized patients.
  • Conducting quality assurance activities related to telemetry services.
  • Maintaining patient-related documentation and entering charges into the system.
  • Performing decontamination and disinfection of equipment as per established protocols.

Qualifications:

Education: A combination of formal education and relevant work experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience: No prior experience is required.

Licensure: LPN, Paramedic, or equivalent training/experience may be accepted in lieu of EKG Technician Certification. CPR certification is mandatory.
