Lead Milling Operations Manager

The Lead Milling Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire Milling division. This role involves direct management of a cutting-edge flour mill with a capacity of 7500 cwt per day, along with flour storage and blending processes. The individual will coordinate and implement projects, manage team tasks, and ensure that all operations are executed with precision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise milling staff and maintenance personnel, ensuring effective management of the milling operations.
  • Organize work schedules for employees and manage the supply of raw materials to optimize productivity.
  • Ensure adherence to product quality standards and maintain equipment calibration.
  • Prioritize and schedule necessary equipment repairs.
  • Oversee the procurement and installation of essential machinery and tools for operational efficiency.
  • Redesign existing milling systems and develop new operational frameworks.
  • Manage the maintenance department's functions.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams to uphold product integrity and compliance with specifications.
  • Plan and direct both long-term and short-term project initiatives, including timelines and resource allocation.
  • Maximize flour yield while ensuring food safety and effective pest management.
  • Delegate tasks to project team members with clear deadlines.
  • Monitor project progress and provide guidance to team members.
  • Communicate any potential delays or issues to the leadership team.
  • Maintain up-to-date metrics and progress tracking to ensure efficiency.
  • Deliver timely and accurate reports on project developments to the executive team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Milling Science, Grain Science, Business, or Management, or equivalent experience in mill management.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in managing personnel in grain conditioning or milling operations.
  • Experience in project management within a manufacturing or milling context is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills are essential.
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks effectively.
  • Decisive and capable of making informed decisions.
  • Ability to track progress and provide regular updates.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • This role requires physical exertion, including lifting, pulling, and standing on concrete surfaces.
  • Exposure to various environmental factors such as noise, dust, and temperature extremes.
  • Work may involve standing and walking on concrete floors and climbing ladders.
  • Involvement with manufacturing equipment, including forklifts.
