Position: Machine Operator, Silver Mill

Hourly Pay: $19.00 ($39,520 annually)

Position Summary: The Machine Operator in the Silver Mill is responsible for operating drawing and rolling machinery to manufacture wire and sheet products. This role involves utilizing measuring instruments for quality assurance and adhering to all safety protocols. The operator prepares and sets up machines for production, ensuring close tolerances are maintained. The expectation is to consistently produce 1,500 ounces of flat sheet and slit strip/bezel weekly, with a defect rate of 5% or lower, while keeping production backlog under 5 days. Physical tasks may include standing, bending, and lifting up to 45 lbs, with work conducted in an air-conditioned production area subject to temperature variations and elevated noise levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Be open to occasional overtime, compensated at time and a half
  • Evaluate processes and suggest improvements as needed
  • Achieve 10 or fewer customer returns annually and meet 90% of delivery deadlines
  • Accurately track jobs to the appropriate area and box number throughout the production process
  • Conduct visual inspections of products using magnification and precise measuring tools to ensure quality and correct dimensions
  • Identify required parts, tools, and materials based on work orders, ensuring proper inventory levels
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers through both written and verbal communication
  • Contribute ideas and solutions during problem-solving discussions
  • Participate in all safety training, comprehend SDS sheets, and wear PPE as necessary
  • Understand and apply metal flow processes and security protocols
  • Follow all building security measures, including wearing metal-free clothing and displaying ID badges
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of documented experience in manufacturing
  • Strong work ethic with reliable attendance
  • Basic computer skills for job tracking
  • Effective communication skills with coworkers
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow training materials and SOPs
  • Proficient in using measuring instruments (rulers, calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges) for measurements in ounces, grams, inches, and millimeters, along with basic math skills
  • Capability to perform in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes
  • Attention to detail is essential
