Lead Flour Production Manager

The Lead Flour Production Manager is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the Milling division. This role entails direct management of a cutting-edge flour mill with a capacity of 7500 cwt per day, alongside flour storage and blending operations. The individual will spearhead and coordinate various projects, effectively managing and delegating tasks to team members to ensure timely and accurate completion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and manage milling personnel, including maintenance staff.
  • Organize employee schedules, raw materials, and ingredients to optimize productivity.
  • Ensure product quality standards, equipment precision, and necessary calibrations are upheld.
  • Prioritize and schedule equipment repairs efficiently.
  • Oversee the procurement and installation of new or refurbished equipment and tools essential for operational efficiency.
  • Redesign existing milling systems and develop new systems as required.
  • Manage operations within the maintenance department.
  • Collaborate with the QA/QC Lab and Quality Systems Management to maintain superior product quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Plan, implement, and direct both long-term and short-term project objectives, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Maximize flour yields while ensuring food safety and effective pest management.
  • Delegate tasks to project team members with clear deadlines and timelines.
  • Monitor project progress and provide guidance to team members.
  • Inform the executive leadership team of any potential delays, issues, or discrepancies that may affect project outcomes.
  • Maintain up-to-date metrics and tracking of project progress to ensure efficiency.
  • Deliver accurate and timely reports on project statuses to the executive leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Milling Science, Grain Science, Business, Management, or a minimum of 5 years of mill management experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing direct reports in grain conditioning or milling operations.
  • Experience in project management within a manufacturing or milling environment is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills are essential.
  • Proficient in effective delegation.
  • Decisive decision-making abilities.
  • Capability to track and report on progress regularly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This role requires physical exertion, including lifting, pulling, and standing on concrete surfaces.
  • Exposure to environmental factors such as noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Work may involve conditions exceeding 100 degrees or below freezing.
  • Potential exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, particularly forklifts.
  • Involves standing and walking on concrete floors.
  • Work may be conducted in elevated areas.
  • Climbing ladders may be necessary.
