Job Description

Job Summary:

MNS Engineers Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Resident Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are built according to contract documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with technical field inspectors and project team members to ensure project goals are met.
  • Perform construction engineering tasks, including roadways and bridges.
  • Oversee project Quality Control and Assurance.
  • Manage professional and technical staff and contract administration.
  • Review change orders, shop drawings, materials testing, and surveying.
  • Conduct weekly project meetings and oversee utility coordination.
  • Arrange for materials testing, surveying, grade verification, and requests for payment.
  • Ensure EEO/labor compliance for the project.
  • Prepare progress and final documents to meet State and Federal Highway Administration requirements.
  • Work on major projects or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.
  • Prepare and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Assist upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
  • Supervise staff necessary to complete assignments and ensure project profitability.
  • Maintain scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Prepare proposals to provide professional services under the direction of a Principal Construction Manager.
  • Resolve issues arising from the inspection process or from contract administration.
  • Assist with recruitment and conduct job performance evaluations.
  • Primary point of contact with clients and approving agencies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • California registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver's record are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of construction contract management experience related to roadway and/or bridge construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of CALTRANS and local agency projects, as well as document coordination on federally funded projects desired.
