Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a Senior Construction Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work independently with limited supervision, applying standard techniques and procedures to complex tasks.
  • Support the Resident Engineer in various responsibilities.
  • Engage in the review of submittals, RFIs, RFCs, and construction-related documents, preparing responses for the Resident Engineer's evaluation.
  • Track and report on construction progress effectively.
  • Participate in project meetings and discussions.
  • Coordinate the activities of field inspectors.
  • Assist in managing project field staff and conduct inspections and documentation of contractor activities.
  • Perform field measurements for accurate quantity calculations and reporting.
  • Communicate efficiently with the project team, including clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Handle projects of significant complexity, potentially leading a team of engineers and support staff.
  • Ensure quality inspections to confirm compliance with approved plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 6 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 8 years of experience in the construction of highways, roads, and bridges.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with contractors and clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Caltrans highway and bridge construction and maintenance projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of highway and bridge design, construction, and materials.
  • Thorough understanding of Caltrans specifications and construction contract administration.
