Position Overview
This role involves serving as the deputy to the chief of the Navigation Division, ensuring effective coordination and scheduling of dredging operations across various districts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the floating plant work, including budget preparation and scheduling.
  • Conduct regular inspections of field activities to ensure compliance with dredging orders and project plans.
  • Lead studies and procure advanced methods and equipment to enhance the management of floating plants.
  • Manage the operation of repair facilities and boatyards for maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Supervise engineering tasks related to floating plant operations, including planning, design, cost estimation, and contract administration for major repairs and improvements.
  • Administer personnel management through subordinate supervisors, including work assignment and participation in selection committees.
  • Assist in developing plans for the dredging maintenance program for the floating plant.

Requirements
Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including a suitability determination through a background investigation. A probationary period may be required for this supervisory position.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess specialized experience in dredging operations and maintenance, including budget oversight and staff coordination for navigation projects. Experience should reflect responsibilities typical of a GS-13 level position or higher.

Candidates will be assessed based on competencies such as accountability, adaptability, leadership, and strategic thinking. Relevant experience must be clearly outlined in the application.
