Job Overview

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a skilled Project Estimator and Manager to join our team at Madden Fabrication. This role involves estimating fabrication projects and overseeing the entire process from material procurement to collaboration with vendors, clients, and internal teams, ensuring effective management of ongoing job expenses.

COMPENSATION: $32-$42/hr

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough research on projects, prepare bids, and obtain approval from the Operations Manager before submitting precise and timely proposals.
  • Estimate fabrication projects assigned to you, which entails taking field measurements and engaging with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Review contracts for compliance and accuracy.
  • Prepare work orders and cost-coded budgets for input into MS Project.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials, subcontractors, and equipment necessary for the awarded contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Production/Operation Supervisor and Operations Manager to ensure projects are executed efficiently, profitably, and within the set timelines.
  • Work alongside foremen and fellow estimators to enhance efficiency and ensure timely, profitable project delivery.
  • Identify and cultivate business opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Manage the shop drawing process, coordinating with internal drafters and utilizing CAD or manual drawings as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the metal fabrication sector and estimating.
  • Familiarity with MS Project is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the technical requirements within the industry, including metal fabrication equipment and processes.
  • Strong management, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and established procedures, including AISC, AWS, ASME, and OSHA.
  • Able to thrive in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, as well as Metal Fabrication Estimating, CAD, blueprint reading, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
