Desert Regional Medical Center is a comprehensive 385-bed acute-care facility recognized as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma center, featuring a cutting-edge, patient-focused Rehabilitation Services Department. Our dedicated team offers a diverse array of inpatient and outpatient services, encompassing acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, along with outpatient therapy, hand, and lymphedema clinics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Nurse Manager holds primary responsibility for overseeing all facets of their clinical area(s)/department, which includes daily assessment, strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of quality patient care delivery in a cost-efficient manner. In this role, the Manager is accountable for work organization, employee supervision, staff development, budget management, quality assurance, process enhancement, and problem resolution within the department and Cancer Center. The manager serves as a clinical support and resource for staff, contributing to nursing by aligning with the mission goals, objectives, educational, and research initiatives of both the Cancer and Medical Centers.

Tasked with the creation, implementation, and monitoring of essential programs and services related to the comprehensive spectrum of breast and breast cancer care, as well as diagnostic imaging.

These services advance the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to cultivate unique environments where patients, their families, healthcare providers, and staff collaborate to achieve longer and improved lives in the battle against cancer.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Formulate, execute, and oversee the overall budget for the Breast Center and diagnostic radiology, establishing and meeting volume and revenue targets for comprehensive services.
  2. Represent The Comprehensive Breast Center at relevant administrative, clinical, medical, and community gatherings.
  3. Supervise staff operations, address issues, provide in-service training on new equipment & procedures, and orient new staff. This may include recruitment and performance management. Facilitate weekly operational meetings with medical and clinical personnel.
  4. Develop, plan, and direct the implementation of comprehensive breast center and diagnostic radiology services, including equipment procurement. Adhere to the strategic plan for program development.
  5. Oversee facilities management, including equipment, space, and regulatory compliance.
  6. Maintain and update the departmental policy/procedure manual as necessary.
  7. Direct all clinical and non-clinical activities of the department regarding services, programs, and staffing needs. Coordinate staffing and work schedules, develop and implement policies and procedures, participate in departmental quality assurance, and provide training and orientation for new employees. Conduct annual performance evaluations and competencies, facilitating educational opportunities for staff development while fostering a positive work environment that encourages open communication.
  8. Organizational Focus: Identify and establish departmental goals that align with the mission statement and organizational objectives; facilitate interdepartmental coordination, recognizing opportunities for growth and change to ensure quality patient care and services.
  9. Cost Effective Management of Quality Outcomes: Monitor FTE and operating budget variances, implementing effective action plans and communicating budgetary information to staff to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  10. Clinical Practice: Act as a positive, innovative, and effective leader, establishing high-quality standards and performance expectations. Serve as a role model and clinical resource for staff, providing guidance and professional development.
  11. Professional Self Development: Engage in professional development activities aligned with departmental and Center goals, participating in programs for growth and development.
  12. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Federal, State, and Municipal laws, regulations, and ordinances related to safety, employment practices, and accreditation. Act on customer and staff feedback in a timely manner, contributing to customer satisfaction initiatives.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  1. Current CA RN License (must be maintained at all times).
  2. Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (must be maintained at all times).
  3. Compliance with regulatory requirements appropriate for the position.
  4. Experience in oncology.
  5. Experience in ambulatory care.
  6. Management and leadership skills to mentor staff and facilitate daily operations.
  7. Ability to serve as a liaison for the Medical Center and physician groups.
  8. Teaching and educational skills necessary for training patients, caregivers, and staff.
  9. Public speaking experience and proficient writing skills.
  10. Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
  11. Knowledge of hospital operations and regulations.
  12. Experience in business and program development.
  13. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  14. Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts.
  15. Organizational skills.

Preferred:

  1. BSN and MSN are preferred.

Shift: Days

Pay Range: $116,480 - $187,200, determined based on qualifications and experience.
