Our dedicated team offers a comprehensive array of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement and spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Nursing Manager is accountable for overseeing all facets of their clinical area(s)/department, which encompasses daily assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality patient care delivery in a cost-effective manner. In this role, the Manager is tasked with organizing work, supervising staff, fostering employee development, managing budgets, ensuring quality assurance, enhancing processes, and resolving issues related to service delivery and programs within the department and Cancer Center. The manager acts as a clinical support and resource for staff, contributing to nursing by promoting the mission goals, objectives, educational, and research initiatives of both the Cancer and Medical Centers.
Responsible for the creation, implementation, and monitoring of key programs and services related to the comprehensive spectrum of breast and breast cancer care, as well as diagnostic imaging.
These services advance the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to cultivate unique environments where patients, their families, healthcare providers, and staff collaborate to achieve longer and improved lives in the battle against cancer.
DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement, and oversee the overall budget for the Breast Center and diagnostic radiology, establishing and achieving volume and revenue targets for comprehensive services.
- Represent the Comprehensive Breast Center at relevant administrative, clinical, medical, and community meetings.
- Supervise staff operations, addressing issues, facilitating training on new equipment and procedures, and orienting new employees. This may include recruitment and performance management. Facilitate weekly operational meetings with medical and clinical staff.
- Plan and direct the implementation of comprehensive breast center and diagnostic radiology services, including equipment acquisition, adhering to the strategic plan for program development.
- Oversee facilities management, including equipment, space, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain and revise the departmental policy/procedure manual as necessary.
- Direct all clinical and non-clinical activities of the department regarding services, programs, and staffing needs. Coordinate staffing and work schedules, develop and implement policies and procedures, participate in departmental quality assurance, and provide training and orientation for new employees. Conduct annual performance evaluations and competencies, facilitating educational opportunities for staff development. Foster a positive work environment that encourages open communication between staff and management.
- Organizational Focus:
- Identify and establish departmental goals that align with the mission statement and organizational objectives of the Center; facilitate interdepartmental coordination, identifying growth and change opportunities to maintain quality patient care and services. Act as a change agent, utilizing these opportunities to implement necessary changes in the clinical environment.
- Cost-Effective Management of Quality Outcomes:
- Monitor FTE and operating budget variances, implementing effective action plans. Communicate budgetary information to staff, seeking their input to enhance productivity and efficiency. Develop, implement, and evaluate productivity standards, monitoring improvement trends; establish quality control measures, tracking improvement trends.
- Serve as a positive, innovative, and effective leader, establishing high-quality standards and performance expectations. Act as a role model and clinical resource for staff, providing guidance and professional development. Monitor patient clinical management to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective nursing care. Advocate for patients in the coordination and delivery of quality care, ensuring complete and accurate documentation of the nursing process. Communicate, negotiate, and resolve patient care and departmental issues effectively, collaborating with all members of the healthcare team. Participate in departmental planning and preparation for accreditation surveys, maintaining these standards continuously.

- Identify and engage in professional development activities that align with departmental and Center goals. Participate in programs for professional growth and development, utilizing educational opportunities to enhance performance and career advancement to achieve established self-development goals.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to Federal, State, and Municipal laws, regulations, and ordinances concerning safety, wages, employment discrimination, accreditation, licensure, certification, and reimbursement. Comply with all Medical Center policies and procedures, ensuring completion of quality assurance monitoring and implementing changes based on outcomes. Address customer and staff complaints promptly and appropriately, implementing changes as warranted by feedback. Contribute to customer satisfaction initiatives relevant to the department and Cancer Center.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Current CA RN License (must be maintained at all times).
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (must be maintained at all times).
- Compliance with regulatory requirements (i.e., TJC) appropriate for the position.
- Oncology background.
- Ambulatory care experience.
- Management and leadership skills to mentor staff and facilitate daily operations.
- Act as a liaison for the Medical Center, physician groups, and the general public.
- Teaching and educational skills required; ability to instruct patients, caregivers, nursing staff, and support staff.
- Experience in public speaking and proficient writing skills.
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of hospital operations, rules, and regulations.
- Experience in business and program development.
- Skills in physician relations and recruiting.
- Healthcare management experience.
- Customer service skills.
- Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

Shift: Days
Pay Range: $116,480 - $187,200
Individual wages are determined based on various factors, including qualifications and experience.
