Desert Regional Medical Center is a comprehensive 385-bed acute-care facility recognized as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma center, featuring a cutting-edge, patient-focused Rehabilitation Services Department. Our dedicated team offers a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement and spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Nursing Manager is accountable for overseeing all elements of their clinical area(s)/department, which encompasses daily assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of quality patient care delivery in a cost-efficient manner. In this role, the Manager is tasked with organizing workflows, supervising personnel, fostering staff development, managing budgets, ensuring quality assurance, enhancing processes, and resolving issues related to service delivery and associated programs within the department and Cancer Center. The manager serves as a clinical support and resource for staff, contributing to nursing by aligning with the mission goals, objectives, educational, and research initiatives of both the Cancer and Medical Centers.
Key responsibilities include the creation, implementation, and monitoring of essential programs and services related to the comprehensive spectrum of breast and breast cancer care, as well as diagnostic imaging.
These services further the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to establish unique environments where patients, their families, physicians, and staff collaborate to achieve improved outcomes in the battle against cancer.
DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and oversee the overall budget for the Breast Center and diagnostic radiology, establishing and achieving volume and revenue targets for comprehensive services.
- Represent the Comprehensive Breast Center at relevant administrative, clinical, medical, and community meetings.
- Supervise staff operations, address issues, facilitate training on new equipment and procedures, and orient new staff. This may include recruitment and performance management. Conduct weekly operational meetings with medical and clinical staff.
- Plan and direct the implementation of comprehensive breast center and diagnostic radiology services, including equipment acquisition, adhering to the strategic plan for program development.
- Manage facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations and operational efficiency.
- Maintain and update the departmental policy/procedure manual as necessary.
- Direct all clinical and non-clinical activities of the department, coordinating staffing and work schedules, developing policies and procedures, participating in quality assurance, and providing training for new employees. Conduct annual performance evaluations and facilitate educational opportunities for staff development, fostering a positive work environment that encourages open communication.
- Organizational Focus:
- Identify and establish departmental goals aligned with the mission statement and organizational objectives, facilitating interdepartmental coordination and identifying growth opportunities to maintain quality patient care.
- Cost Management of Quality Outcomes:
- Monitor FTE and operating budget variances, implementing effective action plans and communicating budgetary information to staff to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Clinical Practice:
- Serve as a positive and effective leader, establishing high standards and performance expectations. Act as a role model and clinical resource, guiding staff and ensuring safe, efficient, and effective nursing care delivery.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in professional development activities that align with departmental goals, enhancing professional performance and career growth.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards, addressing customer and staff complaints promptly and contributing to customer satisfaction initiatives.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Current CA RN License.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- Oncology and ambulatory care experience.
- Management and leadership skills.
- Teaching and educational abilities.
- Public speaking and writing proficiency.
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of hospital operations and regulations.
- Experience in business and program development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts.
Preferred:
- BSN and MSN.
Shift: Days
Pay Range: $116,480 - $187,200
