Production Supervisor for Printing Operations

Position Overview:
The Printing Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing operations within the designated departments. This position ensures the efficient production of high-quality products that align with customer expectations while actively managing key performance indicators that influence costs, such as downtime, setup times, production speed, and waste management.

Key Responsibilities:
The manager is tasked with ensuring adherence to all organizational policies and procedures, cultivating a collaborative team environment, providing strategic direction, and exemplifying support for the company's unified vision.

The Printing Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the assigned departments, which includes supervising staff, achieving production targets, evaluating the performance of team members, making informed operational decisions, resolving issues, and managing conflicts effectively.

Impact on WestRock:
- Analyze production orders and components to determine necessary processes, materials, machinery, and operational sequences.
- Delegate tasks to team members and establish methods for coordinating workflows to meet production timelines.
- Ensure that required materials are received and prepared according to the workflow schedule.
- Collaborate with scheduling teams daily to assess workload and production performance expectations.
- Conduct visual inspections of finished products and utilize precision measuring tools.
- Partner with Quality Control to monitor output and evaluate each project for compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of time and production metrics.
- Coordinate with other supervisors to align departmental activities.
- Uphold compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in Operational Excellence training, initiatives, and audits.
- Develop and maintain a preventive maintenance strategy for departmental equipment.
- Investigate equipment malfunctions and determine repair and maintenance needs.
- Ensure that all employees adhere to safety regulations.
- Stay informed about new products and advancements within the department.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production demands and productivity benchmarks.

Performance Management:
Set performance goals and hold employees accountable for meeting established standards through coaching, feedback, and timely evaluations.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in folding carton converting.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience required.
- Proven ability to understand and perform the tasks being supervised or quickly acquire knowledge of those tasks.
- Strong capability to foster teamwork and motivate individual contributors.
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and operational procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills is required.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
- Capacity to lead and champion change initiatives within the department and across the facility.
- Strong technical knowledge of converting and finishing processes.
- Good mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
- Competence in applying mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.
