Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) operates as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, supporting independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates throughout the United States. Additionally, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund functions as a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that serves as the advocacy and political arm of PPFA, engaging in educational initiatives, advocacy, and electoral activities, including grassroots organizing and legislative efforts.


We are currently seeking a seasoned and dynamic Chief of Intelligence Operations based in our New York City Office.

This position reports to the Senior Director of National Office Security and collaborates with teams in Global Safety & Security (GSS) to establish operational standards that enhance safety and security across the organization, including for staff and visitors.

The leadership provided in this role will complement other leaders in Safety, Security, & Workplace Services, collectively working to safeguard our personnel, facilities, guests, and brand integrity.

Role Overview: This position will spearhead the GSS Intelligence and Investigations program at the National Office, recognized as a subject matter expert who provides insightful thought leadership regarding Intelligence and Investigations protocols and practices. While this role does not oversee the Affiliate Intelligence Program, close coordination will be maintained.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering comprehensive and timely intelligence research analysis and threat assessments to support risk mitigation and organizational decision-making.
  • Overseeing intelligence analysts, including managing 24/7 support through third-party providers and platforms.
  • Collaborating with GSS leadership to develop risk mitigation strategies and recommend security best practices.
  • Monitoring, managing, and analyzing data from National Office incidents and threats.
  • Partnering with People, Culture & Equity and other key leaders for investigative guidance and support.
  • Providing intelligence support for all National Office special events.
  • Maintaining robust relationships with law enforcement counterparts essential for response and intelligence support.
  • Offering authoritative guidance that integrates operational and political perspectives while aligning with organizational strategy.
  • Playing a crucial role in the innovation and strategic development of the Intelligence program.
  • Coordinating with the Affiliate Security Intelligence program.
  • Acting as a secondary leader for the Senior Director of National Office Security in response situations and GSS program support as needed.
  • Supporting the GSS program in various areas and fulfilling additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director of National Office Security.
Delivery Expectations:
  • This role will manage the collection, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence that may adversely affect staff safety, National Office locations, including global offices, business operations, events, or the PP brand.
  • Providing both timely and scheduled intelligence publications, advisories, and other deliverables.
  • Leading continuous process improvements and evaluating emerging technologies to ensure the program operates at the highest standards, supporting strategic objectives for resilience and security within the Federation.
  • Identifying business opportunities and enhancing team capacity to promote business development.
Engagement:
This role will closely collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and law enforcement for investigations and intelligence sharing.

Effective collaboration is essential for prompt responses and long-term support regarding safety and security risks to the organization.

This position will also deliver opposition awareness training and assist staff in navigating potential threats, harassment, or suspicious situations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Minimum of 15+ years of security experience in progressively responsible roles, including at least ten (10) years in management.
  • At least ten (10) years of specialized experience in intelligence and investigations, preferably combining federal law enforcement and corporate security.
  • Proficient in social media platforms, open-source search methods, investigative techniques, and electronic crimes.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, work under pressure, and resolve issues independently.
  • Capability to analyze information and provide concise, comprehensive briefings with key recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the unique challenges faced by Planned Parenthood Federation.
  • High ethical standards and exceptional customer service skills are essential.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, collaboration, and building strong partnerships.
  • Extensive program and project management experience.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn new applications.
  • Understanding of diverse groups and sensitivity to cultural differences within a multicultural workforce.
  • Availability outside of regular working hours for operational needs, with responsiveness to communications.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing priorities and ambiguous situations.

Travel Requirements: Less than 10% domestic travel to support the GSS program.

Compensation ranges from $140,000 to $150,000 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package including generous vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, medical, dental, and vision benefits effective from day one, life insurance, short/long-term disability, paid family leave, and 401k options.
