Position Summary

The Wedding and Event Host is responsible for overseeing the execution of events on the day they occur. This role involves delivering exceptional customer service and orchestrating unforgettable experiences that align with quality standards. The host ensures that events progress seamlessly and addresses any issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-of operations for weddings and events at the designated venue within established timeframes.
  • Communicate with clients to ascertain their requirements and guarantee satisfaction.
  • Provide updates and reports to the event coordinator.
  • Organize venue logistics and manage all event details as specified by the event planning documentation.
  • Proactively resolve any issues and troubleshoot challenges on the event day.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Dependable with a positive demeanor, capable of working effectively with diverse groups.
  • Portfolio showcasing previously managed events (weddings, meetings, parties, corporate functions).

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting social justice, equity, and inclusion within a university context.
  • Ability to apply culturally responsive practices in their work.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching are required.

Additional Information

A valid driver's license is necessary. The incumbent must also comply with the university's driving regulations and be eligible to drive for university-related activities. The university reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving history.

Compensation
$16.00 per hour. Factors such as the scope of responsibilities, candidate qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations will be taken into account when extending an offer.

Background Check Requirement

All candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must complete a background screening authorization.
