Vice President of Business Growth

SUMMARY
We are in search of a dynamic, forward-thinking, and seasoned professional to spearhead the Business Development division within our Business Development and Marketing Services team. The Vice President of Business Growth will report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, collaborate closely with the Vice President of Business Development, and oversee the business development operations, assisting attorneys and advisors with their business development requirements while managing team members in executing related projects as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, Vice President of Business Development, and Practice Group Leaders to acquire a thorough understanding of the legal and advisory services provided.
Develop a comprehensive insight into the structure, operations, and strategic direction of relevant client relationships.
In partnership with other team members, monitor competitors within the firm, their market positioning, recruitment efforts, initiatives, performance, and other critical data and developments that are beneficial for planning at the product/practice group and service line levels.
Proactively create and manage client-focused key messages and content to ensure that business development materials are clear, consistent, and align with the high standards we uphold for our clients.
Take the lead in enhancing processes and/or content in the following areas:
- Drafting and executing pitches and proposals (including timelines, delegation, drafting, collaboration with attorneys/advisors, finalization, and feedback).
- Managing content by drafting and updating practice group content and representative matters.
- Leading the drafting and editing of proposal templates, as well as maintaining templates and disclosure requirements on firm-wide pitch book elements such as client names, profiles, experience lists, and attorney biographies.
- Overseeing a centralized proposal management database system and managing the compilation and analysis of metrics regarding pitch and proposal preparation and respective win rates for reporting to Firm Leadership.
- Identifying a proposal generation tool and developing, organizing, and managing content for proposal documents and related collateral within the identified solution.
- Managing the contribution process and maintaining version control.
- Training and developing team members on content creation to support various business development-related attorney requests.
Work with the Vice President of Business Development and Chief Marketing Officer to implement strategic initiatives for the firm.
Engage in research and analysis related to potential business development opportunities and strategic business planning, including routine and discrete market analyses of geographic markets or product/practice areas.
Generate innovative business development ideas for practice groups or internal service lines and collaborate with team members to implement them to enhance revenue.
Contribute to the Firm's Business Development Committee and support initiatives generated from the Committee as required.
Provide insights on business development technology investments in collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer.
Conduct post-pitch debrief meetings to relay key points back to the business to facilitate further learning and development.
Collaborate with attorney/advisor client service team leads to identify strategies for deepening relationships, delivering value, and supporting clients' legal and business needs and priorities.
Develop and lead the firm's strategy for award submissions and draft and coordinate nominations.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, proposal generators, experience databases, and other marketing technology platforms.
A proactive self-starter and strategic thinker who can take ownership of responsibilities and execute them with minimal oversight.
A dynamic leader with excellent team management skills, who is both a gracious delegator and a doer, enjoying both executing work personally and effectively organizing a team to deliver results.
Ability to prioritize and manage the pressures of a law firm environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Collaborative team player. The successful candidate will integrate into an existing team of professionals who value collaboration.
Flexible and dedicated. This position may require more than 40 hours per week and may also involve irregular hours.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in client/business development or sales.
A Bachelor's degree is required; a JD is preferred.
Extensive experience in business development communications within professional services, with significant hands-on experience in proposal development and exemplary project management skills.
