Senior Vice President of Business Banking

Key Responsibilities:

The individual in this role is responsible for cultivating new and sustaining existing commercial loan and deposit relationships, managing a portfolio of commercial loans, assessing the creditworthiness of clients, overseeing loan performance, preparing commercial loans for presentation, and enhancing the Bank's reputation within the community to achieve or surpass commercial loan quality, profitability, growth, and service targets. The individual is committed to delivering exceptional service to every client. Independent judgment is essential for planning, prioritizing, and organizing a diverse workload.

Core Functions:
  • Establish new commercial loan relationships by engaging potential clients to promote the Bank's offerings and achieve profitability and growth goals.
  • Build connections with Private Banking and Banking Centers to foster a referral network and support Banking Center personnel in servicing business clients and prospects.
  • Manage a portfolio of commercial loans by preparing loans that align with size parameters, credit quality, profitability, growth, and service standards as dictated by portfolio yield, loss ratio, delinquency rate, and other metrics to meet profit and growth targets.
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of clients through thorough analysis of their financial status, repayment capacity, and collateral potential in accordance with established policies to ensure a portfolio of commercial loans that meet the Bank's quality benchmarks.
  • Oversee loan performance by maintaining communication with clients, monitoring their financial health, resolving issues, and appropriately requesting or waiving financial statements as per established policies and regulations to mitigate risks associated with collateral depreciation or clients' inability to repay.
  • Ensure proper documentation of loans in line with approval terms.
  • Prepare commercial loans for presentation in compliance with banking regulations; present loans to the Loan Committee or higher authority in a manner that facilitates a comprehensive understanding of all loan elements to ensure regulatory compliance and enhance sound credit decision-making.
  • Enhance community awareness of the Bank's focus on business; establish connections with providers of business products and services.
  • Collaborate with Treasury Management and other Bank divisions to cross-sell and service additional Bank products.
  • Enhance the Bank's community image by participating in local activities, coordinating community development initiatives, and promoting engagement in community service organizations to foster a positive image and establish contacts that could lead to new business opportunities.
  • Nurture relationships with clients and prospects through regular communication, client events, and Bank-sponsored entertainment opportunities, both during and after business hours, along with routine follow-ups.
  • Adhere to all banking regulations and the Bank's policies and objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or banking, or equivalent educational background.
  • Two or more years of lending experience, or four years of commercial credit analysis.
  • Three or more years of proven business development experience.
  • Understanding of banking laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with SBA products and other credit enhancement programs, as well as community resources for businesses.
  • Active participation in community and civic activities.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Proficient in standard computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
