Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will operate in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary setting, taking responsibility for engineering deliverables, calculations, systems and equipment selection, mechanical design, and project management. This role involves maintaining professional relationships with vendors, clients, and team members as required by project demands. Some travel to project sites may be necessary.
- Utilize expertise in piping systems, pressure vessels, and HVAC systems across various industrial sectors, including advanced technology, nuclear facilities, and heavy manufacturing.
- Oversee mechanical systems encompassing building HVAC, industrial ventilation, dust collection, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, and other related equipment.
- Manage all facets of mechanical design, including system design, duct and pipe sizing, equipment selection, and specification development.
- Assist in the preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards such as IBC, IMC, IPC, ASME, ASHRAE, API, and NFPA.
- Conduct heating and cooling load calculations using software tools.
- Perform head loss calculations and design industrial ventilation systems in accordance with OSHA/ANSI standards.
- Provide technical support during construction phases, addressing field oversights, reviewing vendor submissions, and conducting inspections.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with ASME NQA-1 standards.
- Experience leading engineering teams on design projects.
- Registered Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain licensure within the first year of employment.
- Successful completion of drug screening.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects associated with this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with industrial utility and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of building codes, including Mechanical and Plumbing Codes.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, ACGIH, and SMACNA standards.
- Understanding of the DOE Nuclear Air Cleaning Handbook.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit.
Work Arrangement:
- This position is primarily onsite but may offer a hybrid work arrangement.
