Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will operate within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, responsible for engineering deliverables, calculations, and the selection of systems and equipment. This role involves:
- Utilizing expertise in piping systems, pressure vessels, and HVAC systems within industrial sectors such as advanced technology, nuclear facilities, and heavy manufacturing.
- Overseeing mechanical systems, including but not limited to HVAC, industrial ventilation, chillers, cooling towers, and various pumps and blowers.
- Managing all facets of mechanical design, including system design, duct and pipe sizing, equipment selection, and specifications.
- Assisting in the creation of construction documents, including drawings and calculations.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, such as IBC, IMC, IPC, ASME, and NFPA.
- Conducting heating and cooling load calculations using specialized software.
- Designing industrial ventilation systems in accordance with OSHA/ANSI standards.
- Providing technical support during construction phases, addressing field oversights, and reviewing vendor submissions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Over 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with ASME NQA-1 standards.
- Experience in leading engineering teams on design projects.
- Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility to obtain PE certification within the first year of employment.
- Successful completion of drug screening.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
Preferred Skills:
- Extensive experience with industrial utility and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of building codes, including Mechanical and Plumbing Codes.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, ACGIH, and SMACNA standards.
- Understanding of the DOE Nuclear Air Cleaning Handbook.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
Work Arrangement:
- This position is primarily onsite but may offer a hybrid work arrangement.
