Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will operate in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary setting, responsible for engineering deliverables, calculations, systems and equipment selection, mechanical design, and managing budgets and schedules. This role involves maintaining professional relationships with vendors, clients, and team members as required by various projects. Collaboration with other engineering and technical staff is essential to ensure project objectives are achieved. Occasional travel to project sites may be necessary.

  • Utilize knowledge of piping systems, pressure vessels, and HVAC systems in sectors such as advanced technology, nuclear facilities, and heavy manufacturing.
  • Mechanical systems include, but are not limited to, building HVAC, industrial ventilation, dust collection, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, blowers, natural gas, steam & condensate, compressed air, process water, hygienic piping and equipment, and dry material handling equipment.
  • Oversee all aspects of mechanical design, including system design, duct sizing, pipe sizing, equipment sizing and selection, and specifications with datasheets.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets.
  • Review and confirm applicable codes and standards such as IBC, IMC, IPC, ASME, ASHRAE, API, and NFPA.
  • Conduct heating and cooling load calculations using software such as Trace.
  • Perform head loss calculations.
  • Design industrial ventilation systems in compliance with OSHA/ANSI standards and ACGIH best practices.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including troubleshooting field oversights, reviewing vendor submittals, conducting field inspections, and addressing RFIs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with ASME NQA-1.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams of engineers and designers on design projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE within the first year of employment.
  • Successful completion of drug screening.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with industrial utility and HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with Building Codes, including Mechanical and Plumbing Codes.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, ACGIH, and SMACNA Standards.
  • Understanding of the DOE Nuclear Air Cleaning Handbook.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit.

Work Arrangement:

  • This position is primarily onsite but may offer a hybrid work arrangement.
