POSITION SUMMARY:
Accountable for addressing customer requirements, managing documentation related to freight movement, and executing various administrative and customer service tasks essential for the efficient functioning of the service center.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining records, copying, imaging, answering calls, data entry, and sorting/distributing mail and packages.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of necessary documentation and reports.
  • Deliver precise information and support to customers, which includes assessing pick-up and delivery needs, resolving issues, updating systems for special handling requests, promoting company services, and generating potential sales leads.
  • Input freight shipment details into the computer system, including tracking shipments, generating and correcting freight bills.
  • Oversee the freight pick-up process as needed.
  • Assist customers through phone, email, and fax with inquiries related to shipment tracking, rate quotes, tariff discrepancies, and billing questions.
  • Schedule freight delivery appointments as required.
  • Review drivers' Hours-of-Service logs for accuracy and report any discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Support city operations by checking in drivers and processing related documentation, coordinating drop-off situations, and managing driver collections.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and other service centers to meet customer needs and resolve issues.
  • Reconcile cash and checks collected, prepare deposits, and manage COD check remittance to customers as necessary.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Two years of general office experience.
  • Preferred: One year of customer service experience.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in transportation.
  • Strong phone and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math and counting tasks, with or without a calculator.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to understand various FedEx service products to assist in identifying customer needs.
  • Proficient in using general office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
  • Typing and data entry skills.
  • Preferred: Ten-key skills.
  • PC experience with the ability to learn necessary computer systems and programs.
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, organization, and multitasking.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Capacity to follow instructions and complete required training.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
