Key Responsibilities:

The JCC Association is in search of an inspiring leader with exceptional fundraising abilities, strategic vision, and community engagement expertise to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer. The ideal candidate will be a transformative leader capable of fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, including donors, agency heads, clergy, Board members, lay leaders, staff, and volunteers. This individual must possess the skills to mediate, collaborate, and build consensus effectively.

As a considerate leader focused on community needs, the successful candidate will excel in uniting diverse groups, integrating multiple viewpoints, aligning mission and strategy towards shared objectives, and translating these into actionable plans through effective execution.

Reporting directly to the Board President, the CEO will be instrumental in crafting a compelling vision for the community that will resonate and engage the public. Working closely with the Board, the CEO will lead efforts to identify, cultivate, and nurture new donor relationships, ensuring a robust pipeline for emerging leadership. The CEO will also serve as a representative voice for the community to the wider public.

Core Duties
  • Oversee the daily operations of a vibrant, multifaceted organization.
  • Collaborate with the Board, partner organizations, and congregations to build strong relationships, drive collective goals, and maximize outcomes. Guide leadership in developing a clear vision that captivates and energizes the community.
  • Motivate and inspire staff to enhance the operations of the organization, working alongside Deputy Directors; recruit, supervise, and evaluate staff to ensure effective performance.
  • Articulate and promote the organization’s mission and funding objectives to both the Jewish and broader communities.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with top volunteer leadership and potential prospects.
  • In collaboration with the Deputy Director of Finance and volunteer leadership, manage the organization’s fiscal responsibilities, including ongoing oversight of the budget and financial resources.
  • Lead the development of strategies to cultivate relationships with major supporters and engage the next generation of donors.
  • In partnership with the Board, create integrated community planning initiatives that support the organization’s mission, including the development of both short- and long-term strategies for community vitality.
  • Engage in community relations through professional networks and relationships.
  • Establish and maintain respectful and collaborative relationships with congregational clergy and leadership.
  • Act as the organization’s liaison with affiliated entities.
  • Be an active presence in the community by participating in programs, events, and activities across various sectors.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to translate vision into actionable objectives, strategies, and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership roles, including managing staff, volunteers, and financial oversight of complex organizations.
  • Ability to inspire, lead, and empower staff and a dedicated Board is essential. Integrity, strategic insight, and sound judgment are critical for success in this position.
  • Experience in developing and nurturing trusted relationships with donors and prospects, positioning the organization as a key venue for fulfilling philanthropic goals.
  • A strong commitment to Jewish values and the welfare of the Jewish community, with an understanding of local, national, and international Jewish life issues.
  • Ability to connect with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and build rapport with those holding varying perspectives.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset that enjoys cultivating and maintaining authentic relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to navigate difficult conversations effectively.
  • BA Degree required (MA preferred).
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a Jewish communal or similar environment.
