JOB TITLE: Chief Executive Officer

COMPANY BACKGROUND: Gilder Search Group is a prominent $15MM privately owned entity specializing in the manufacturing of ERW tubes. Our products cater to diverse sectors including Waste Heat Recovery, Oil and Gas, Chemical, Pulp and Paper, Food Manufacturing, Refinery, Boiler, and Utility industries.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES: We are in search of a Chief Executive Officer to join our team as part of a succession strategy. This individual will collaborate closely with the current CEO, who is preparing for retirement. The CEO will oversee daily operations encompassing Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, IT, and Finance. Key responsibilities include managing operations with a focus on enhancing sales, boosting profitability, and diversifying market reach while ensuring quality, safety, and employee satisfaction. The CEO will work alongside the team to formulate the company’s growth strategy and to uphold and enrich the organizational culture. This role includes managing 5 direct reports and maintaining direct communication with the private equity team.

MAJOR ISSUES/GOALS: The successful candidate will be tasked with clearly defining company objectives and aligning the team to ensure everyone understands their roles and how success will be evaluated. They will provide mentorship and leadership throughout the organization. Daily sales leadership and management will be essential, aligning with the company’s core values while driving new business development, nurturing existing customer relationships, and fostering sales growth for sustained long-term profitability. A primary focus will be on profitably increasing revenue. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to build a high-caliber sales function. Collaboration with the management team to oversee existing practices and implement new best practices will be crucial for ensuring effective and cost-efficient operations. Regular reporting to Private Equity leadership and the Board of Directors regarding the operational status of the company, along with significant activities and plans, will be expected.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years in senior management roles, with recent experience as a CEO or COO in an industrial manufacturing environment with revenues exceeding $20MM. Experience in the heat exchanger or boiler sectors is highly advantageous. Familiarity with OEMs and selling through distributors is essential. Previous exposure to private equity is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong execution capabilities, with a proven track record in managing and implementing business processes within a closely held entrepreneurial setting. They must exhibit the ability to analyze financial reports, identify trends, and define growth opportunities for presentation to the Board of Directors. A strong customer service orientation, with an emphasis on customer management and maintaining open lines of communication with clients and vendors, is required. The candidate should be willing to lead by example, clearly present goals, provide direction, and offer support to executive management, direct reports, and general staff. Excellent organizational and communication skills are a must. The individual should be self-driven, motivated, results-oriented, and possess well-developed interpersonal and team-building skills.

EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference for degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering. An MBA is considered a plus.

TRAVEL: This position requires approximately 25-30% travel.
