Position Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the strategic guidance of the Chief Operations Officer, this role is responsible for the effective management of the branch, ensuring alignment with the policies, procedures, and standards of the YMCA of Greater Tulsa Association. The Executive Director will lead the administration of programs, membership initiatives, volunteer engagement, staff development, fundraising efforts, and partnerships with community organizations to fulfill the needs of members and program participants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Drive growth in membership recruitment and sales.
  2. Manage budgeting, expense oversight, and revenue generation for the branch.
  3. Provide leadership and oversight for all programmatic areas within the branch.
  4. Maintain continuous communication with Association Directors to develop innovative strategies.
  5. Recruit, mentor, and guide volunteers and staff to achieve the Annual Campaign fundraising goals.
  6. Develop and lead the board of advisors.
  7. Recruit, train, and manage program and membership staff.
  8. Ensure consistent communication with property managers regarding facility cleanliness and safety.
  9. Facilitate interdepartmental communication to keep members informed about available programs and opportunities.
  10. Collaborate closely with the VP of Talent and Culture to ensure safe operations of programs and facilities.
  11. Work in partnership with the COO to implement effective marketing strategies.
  12. Coordinate scheduling to ensure seamless facility operations.
  13. Assist in the creation of annual promotional plans for all programs, including marketing materials.
  14. Deliver assignments and meet deadlines with accuracy and timeliness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High level of focus and ability to learn a wide range of program information and new software applications.
  • Capable of touring members throughout the facility as necessary.
  • Able to lift 35+ pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interactions with customers and staff.
  • Patience to manage multiple inquiries simultaneously.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities for daily operational challenges.

RELATIONSHIPS TO BE MAINTAINED:

  • Collaborate with schools, municipalities, community organizations, and builders on joint initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain lasting relationships with volunteers and staff.
  • Lead the branch staff team effectively.

IMPACT ON OUTCOMES:

  • Ensures sustained growth of a balanced budget, program development, and community engagement.
  • Enhances volunteer involvement.
  • Develops and retains a capable, diverse, and active Board of Advisors and staff.
  • Achieves operational objectives through effective staff management.
  • Meets or exceeds budgetary goals and performance standards.
  • Realizes fundraising and membership campaign objectives.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a YMCA or similar organization.
  3. Experience in supervising volunteers or staff.
  4. Demonstrated ability to secure funding and grow membership.
  5. Experience working with a volunteer board or committee.
  6. Understanding of the YMCA as a membership organization.
  7. Knowledge and experience in budgeting, financial development, and community relations.

Preferred:

  1. Master's Degree.
  2. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Bilingual - English/Spanish.
  4. Current certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid, and O2.
