  • Key Responsibilities
    • Provides strategic and administrative leadership over the institution's legal matters.
    • Functions as the chief legal advisor, delivering support, counsel, and guidance to the President, Board, senior management, faculty, and staff.
    • Ensures adherence to relevant laws and regulations across the institution.
    • Oversees governmental relations and legislative liaison, offering strategic legal counsel on legislative issues.
    • Manages legal affairs for the institution's foundation.
    • Negotiates intricate contracts and agreements on behalf of the institution.
    • Identifies and addresses legal risks, advises on compliance frameworks, and develops training initiatives.
    • Engages in policy formulation, participates in Board meetings, and oversees the selection of external legal counsel and budgetary compliance.
    • Serves as a vital member of the President's executive team, managing the budget for the Office of General Counsel.
  • Essential Qualifications
    • Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
    • A minimum of seven years of legal practice experience.
    • Valid license to practice law in Oklahoma and in good standing with the Oklahoma Bar Association.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Legal experience within a higher education context.
    • Understanding of public contracting processes.
    • Capability to translate strategic objectives into practical implementation plans.
