Job Overview

Under the supervision of the General Manager and the management team, the Host plays a crucial role in the service team, ensuring that every guest at Pizza Nova enjoys exceptional service and a memorable dining experience. The Host is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, and assisting teammates with various tasks as needed. A successful Host prioritizes outstanding customer service, proactively fulfills duties in accordance with Pizza Nova standards, and collaborates effectively with the team.

Key Responsibilities

The primary goal of the Host is to serve as the initial point of contact for guests, overseeing reservations, addressing general inquiries, and enhancing the overall guest experience in line with company expectations.

  • Greet all guests entering and exiting the restaurant warmly, with genuine salutations and expressions of gratitude.
  • Handle phone inquiries following established company protocols, providing information and routing calls to management as necessary.
  • Manage restaurant reservations using the company’s POS and booking systems.
  • Be aware of large parties and events taking place, directing guests appropriately.
  • Seat guests at tables, provide menus, and notify the service team of new arrivals.
  • Monitor restaurant capacity and table availability to optimize seating arrangements and provide estimated wait times to guests, alerting management of any issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the host stand and restaurant entrance at all times.
  • Assist the service team with bussing and setting tables to ensure readiness for new guests.
  • Ensure that menus are current, clean, and visually appealing.
  • Support additional tasks as needed, including stocking the host stand and service areas, cleaning, and other side work.
  • All employees are expected to adhere to proper cleaning and hygiene standards.
  • Additional duties and projects, such as deep cleaning tasks, may be assigned as required.
Qualifications
  • Possess a service-oriented mindset with excellent customer service skills and a genuine desire to assist others.
  • Previous experience in the hospitality or service industry is advantageous.
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to support the team in delivering an exceptional guest experience.
  • Maintain all necessary certifications (e.g., Food Handlers Card, LEAD Training, etc.).
  • Availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays is essential for this role.
Work Environment

The Host will primarily work in a bustling restaurant atmosphere, which may involve exposure to various hazards, including heavy objects, cooking equipment, wet and hot surfaces, and crowded spaces. Compliance with all applicable safety regulations is mandatory for employees working in these areas.

Additional Information
  • This is a part-time, hourly position.
  • A current Food Handler Card is required for all staff. If not available upon hire, the employee will have 30 days to obtain and present the card.
  • Restaurant operating hours are from 11 am to 9 pm daily.
  • Compensation is $17.00 per hour, with eligibility for tips.
