Position Summary

The Mail Inserting Machine Operator is tasked with the setup, operation, and maintenance of mail-inserting machinery to ensure the precise and timely processing of mail items. This role demands a keen eye for detail, strict adherence to deadlines, and the capability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation:

  • Configure and operate mail-inserting machines for various mail types, including letters and promotional materials.
  • Ensure proper loading of materials and programming of job specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency and quality.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct inspections of finished mail items to verify compliance with company and client standards.
  • Identify and rectify any issues such as misaligned inserts or incorrect postage.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

  • Perform regular maintenance on machines to minimize downtime and enhance equipment longevity.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems promptly and coordinate with maintenance personnel as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of machine output and maintenance activities.
  • Regularly report production data and machine performance to supervisors.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Comply with company policies and industry standards for mail handling and processing.

Collaboration:

  • Work in conjunction with team members and other departments to ensure efficient production flow.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding machine status and production progress.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with mail-inserting machines or similar equipment is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Work performed in a production facility environment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver loads using carts.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
