Position Summary:
The Department Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily functions of the department, ensuring smooth operations, adherence to production timelines, and compliance with quality benchmarks. This role includes overseeing machine operators, coordinating maintenance schedules, and driving process enhancements to boost productivity and reduce downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision: Guide and mentor team members to achieve departmental goals.
- Operations Oversight: Ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and uphold quality standards throughout the production process.
- Equipment Management: Oversee maintenance and functionality of machinery.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to safety regulations.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle necessary documentation and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is advantageous.
- Experience: 3-5 years in similar operations, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting mail-inserting machines and related equipment.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical Thinking: Capability to analyze production metrics and make informed decisions.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to efficiently address unexpected challenges.
- Physical Capability: Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Decision-Making Authority:
Independence in action and people management.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work conducted in a warehouse or production facility.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Physical requirements include lifting 50 pounds, pushing 800 pounds on a load-bearing cart, carrying 25 pounds, and pulling 200 pounds.
- Frequent use of hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklifts is necessary.
- Regular standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and repetitive hand motions are required.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be necessary.
