Position Summary

The Department Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily functions of the department, ensuring effective workflow, adherence to production timelines, and compliance with quality standards. This role includes supervising machine operators, coordinating maintenance schedules, and implementing enhancements to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Guide, manage, and inspire a team.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate objectives, updates, and performance expectations.
  • Facilitate training and development opportunities to improve team skills and knowledge.

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage daily operations to ensure timely and accurate job completion.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Effectively allocate resources to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and client specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections.
  • Promptly address and resolve any quality-related issues.

Equipment Management:

  • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance of machinery to prevent breakdowns.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel or external vendors for repairs and technical support.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.

Process Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement changes to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety training and enforce safe working practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain production reports, attendance records, and other documentation.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost management for the department.
  • Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in similar operations, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in operating and troubleshooting mail-inserting machines and related equipment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Analytical Skills: Capability to analyze production data and make informed decisions.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage unexpected issues efficiently.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Work Environment

Work is conducted in a warehouse or production facility environment, with potential exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust. The role requires physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and using hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklifts. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be necessary.
