Employment Type: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Compensation: Annual salary ranging from $47,840 to $56,160 based on experience.
Shift Differentials:
- 2nd Shift: Additional $1 per hour
- 3rd Shift: Additional $2 per hour
Benefits: Eligibility begins after two full months of employment.
Position SummaryThe Department Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily functions of the department, ensuring smooth operations, adherence to production timelines, and compliance with quality benchmarks. This role entails supervising staff, coordinating maintenance schedules, and executing enhancements to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Supervision:
- Guide and inspire a team to achieve departmental goals.
- Conduct regular meetings to share objectives, updates, and performance metrics.
- Facilitate training and development to elevate team capabilities.
Operational Oversight:
- Manage daily workflows to ensure jobs are completed on time and accurately.
- Track and uphold production schedules, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
- Optimize resource allocation to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and client requirements.
- Implement quality control measures and perform regular assessments.
- Promptly address and resolve any quality-related issues.
Equipment Management:
- Organize and oversee routine maintenance of machinery to prevent operational disruptions.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel or external vendors for repairs and technical assistance.
- Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance and repair activities.
Process Optimization:
- Identify and implement process improvements to boost operational efficiency.
- Work with other departments to streamline workflows and reduce expenses.
- Stay informed on industry advancements and best practices.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies within the department.
- Conduct safety training and promote safe working practices.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage production reports, attendance logs, and other necessary documentation.
- Assist in departmental budgeting and cost management.
- Oversee employee scheduling, timekeeping, and performance assessments.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is advantageous.
- Experience: 3-5 years in similar operations, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in operating and troubleshooting mail-inserting machinery and related equipment.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Analytical Skills: Capable of analyzing production data to make informed decisions.
- Problem-Solving: Effective problem-solving skills to manage unexpected challenges.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Decisions made in this role significantly impact departmental strategy and operations. The supervisor will analyze various situations to determine appropriate actions based on established practices.
Independence of ActionWork is performed independently with defined results and existing practices guiding specific methods. The supervisor/manager is available for problem resolution.
People ManagementThis role involves supervising others, including planning, assigning, and scheduling work, reviewing outputs, ensuring quality standards, training staff, and monitoring productivity. Recommendations for hiring, termination, and pay adjustments may be made, but final decisions rest with management.
Work Environment- Work occurs in a warehouse or production facility.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust is possible.
- Physical demands include lifting, pushing, carrying, and using hand tools.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
