Position Summary

The Department Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily functions of the department, ensuring optimal workflow, adherence to production timelines, and compliance with quality benchmarks. This role includes supervising machine operators, coordinating maintenance schedules, and driving process enhancements to boost productivity and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Direct, manage, and inspire a team.
  • Conduct regular meetings to discuss objectives, updates, and performance standards.
  • Facilitate training and development initiatives to improve team capabilities.

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage daily operations to ensure timely and precise job completion.
  • Monitor production schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Effectively allocate resources to enhance productivity.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and client requirements.
  • Implement quality control measures and perform regular assessments.
  • Quickly address and resolve any quality-related issues.

Equipment Management:

  • Plan and oversee routine maintenance of machinery to prevent failures.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel or external vendors for repairs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities.

Process Optimization:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Work with other departments to streamline operations and reduce expenses.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety training and promote safe working conditions.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain production reports and attendance records.
  • Assist in departmental budgeting and cost management.
  • Manage employee scheduling and performance evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is advantageous.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in a similar operational role, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in operating and troubleshooting relevant machinery.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Analytical Skills: Capability to analyze production data for informed decision-making.
  • Problem-Solving: Effective problem-solving skills to manage unexpected challenges.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment

The role is performed in a production facility environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
