Location: Liverpool

Employment Type: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Compensation: Annual salary ranging from $47,840 to $56,160 based on experience.

Shift Differentials:

  • 2nd Shift: Additional $1 per hour
  • 3rd Shift: Additional $2 per hour

Benefits: Available starting from the first day after completing two full months of employment.

Position Summary

The Department Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily functions of the department, ensuring effective workflow, adherence to production timelines, and compliance with quality benchmarks. This role includes overseeing machine operators, managing maintenance schedules, and implementing enhancements to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Guide, manage, and inspire a team.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to share objectives, updates, and performance expectations.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage daily operations to ensure timely and accurate job completion.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Effectively allocate resources to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all processes align with company quality standards and client requirements.
  • Implement quality control measures and conduct regular inspections.
  • Promptly address and resolve any quality-related issues.

Equipment Management:

  • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance of machinery to prevent malfunctions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel or external vendors for repairs and technical assistance.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.

Process Optimization:

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure departmental adherence to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety training and enforce safe working practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain production reports, attendance records, and other necessary documentation.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost management for the department.
  • Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is advantageous.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in similar operations, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in operating and troubleshooting mail-inserting machines and related equipment.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Analytical Skills: Capability to analyze production data and make informed decisions.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage unexpected challenges effectively.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Decision-Making

Decisions made in this role significantly impact the strategy and operational aspects of the department. Challenges encountered require analysis and interpretation of situations, utilizing knowledge and skills along with established precedents and practices.

Independence of Action

Work results are defined, and existing practices serve as guidelines for determining specific work methods and executing tasks independently, with the supervisor/manager available for problem resolution.

People Management

This role involves supervising the work of others, including planning, assigning, and scheduling tasks, reviewing work quality, providing training, and overseeing productivity. Recommendations for hiring, termination, and pay adjustments may be made, but the final decisions are not the supervisor's responsibility.

Work Environment
  • Work is conducted in a warehouse or production facility setting.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust may occur.
  • Physical demands include lifting 50 pounds, pushing 800 pounds on a load-bearing cart, carrying 25 pounds, and pulling 200 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and repetitive hand motions are required.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be necessary.
