Position Overview

The Software Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing the deployment, upkeep, and assistance of software tools utilized by engineering personnel for various operational tasks including project oversight, decision-making support, document handling, workflow coordination, regulatory adherence, and permitting processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the configuration and customization of software applications to align with user requirements, enhance operational efficiencies, improve data integrity, and boost reliability.
- Collaborate with IT departments to ensure that necessary resources are accessible and meet application specifications.
- Analyze engineering team workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, data quality enhancements, and reliability increases.
- Conduct data assessments and analyses as required, generating relevant reports.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the interactions among various software tools within the Engineering and Construction sector, advising colleagues on their optimal usage.
- Establish and manage security protocols and access permissions.
- Provide technical guidance to staff through training sessions and the distribution of educational materials.
- Suggest modifications to business practices to optimize technology utilization.
- Manage new requests and troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Act as the primary contact for software vendors and the IT department.
- Ensure that technical resources are secure, dependable, and readily available for operational use.
- Drive a vehicle as necessary for business-related activities.

Work Environment

The role is primarily conducted in a standard office environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Proficient in supporting comprehensive project management software applications such as e-Builder and Primavera.
- Ability to assess and determine optimal customization options for software packages.
- Competent in reading, understanding, troubleshooting, and writing SQL queries.
- Skilled in data analysis and report generation.
- Capable of diagnosing, documenting, and resolving technical issues.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership skills to coordinate teams focused on technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with both business and technical personnel.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.

Education and Experience Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in supporting engineering software applications and analyzing business needs through tasks such as requirements gathering and business analysis.
- At least 2 years of experience in configuring and supporting e-Builder or Primavera applications, or equivalent project management software.

OR

- High School diploma or equivalent with 7+ years of experience in supporting engineering software applications.
- At least 2 years of experience in configuring and supporting e-Builder or Primavera applications, or equivalent project management software.

Additional Requirements

- Valid driver's license with a clean record and the ability to obtain necessary driving credentials.
- Completion of required financial disclosure statements upon employment and annually thereafter.

Preferences

- Experience with additional software such as ProjectDox, Linko, Tokay, EnerGov, and/or Riva.
- Familiarity with GIS, Autodesk, and ECM systems.
