Are you an enthusiastic engineer eager to oversee projects from conception to execution?
Do you thrive on delivering innovative electronic designs that enhance capabilities?
If this resonates with you, we have an opportunity at APL.
We are in search of a dedicated hardware engineer to assist in the design, integration, and delivery of tailored end-to-end RF communication systems centered around software-defined radios. As part of our team, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge digital and RF circuits aimed at addressing complex national security challenges for special operations and intelligence sectors. Our projects vary from extensive RF processing systems to compact, low-power solutions tailored for specific applications. You will collaborate with a diverse group of engineers who value an open and cooperative work environment to tackle intricate problems.
As an RF Communications Systems Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating portable communication devices and miniature wireless systems through the integration of high-speed digital and RF components, commercially available chipsets, and embedded processors.
- Assisting in the evaluation and testing of designs through validation, field testing, and troubleshooting, often under stringent time constraints.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to comprehend their most pressing challenges and devise innovative solutions.
- Initiating and participating in design reviews, system integration, and documentation processes.
You meet our minimum qualifications for the role if you...
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in computer or electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Possess over 5 years of experience in hardware design, guiding projects from concept through to fully integrated systems, including debugging, integration, and system-level testing.
- Exhibit proficiency in high-speed digital, analog, and RF printed circuit board design and integration.
- Are eligible to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately secure a Final Secret level clearance. This position requires U.S. citizenship and is subject to a government security clearance investigation.
You'll exceed our minimum requirements if you...
- Have a solid understanding of low-level RF system design and how custom circuitry can enhance system performance for our stakeholders.
- Can conduct RF testing at both the printed circuit board and integrated system levels.
