We are looking for a talented engineer or scientist with expertise in designing and implementing sophisticated hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL or HIL) systems to evaluate critical weapon systems essential for national defense. If you possess prior experience with hardware-in-the-loop systems or have a robust background in electrical interfaces and software development, you may be an excellent fit for this role. You will be part of a team that creates, constructs, and operates hardware-in-the-loop setups around weapon systems' flight computers and sensors, including GPS receivers and IMUs. Our experienced personnel will provide mentorship to newcomers in the field while also seeking seasoned professionals who can guide others.

As a HIL Systems Engineer:

  • Your main duty will involve constructing and managing hardware-in-the-loop configurations around specialized weapon systems.
  • You will utilize C++ programming, ensuring a thorough understanding of latency, thread safety, and data transfer between hardware interfaces.
  • You will engage with embedded hardware systems and sensors, comprehending electrical interfaces and communication protocols.
  • You will document your code, establish CI/CD processes, network systems together, and effectively communicate your progress and requirements within the team.
Qualifications

  • Hold a BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop systems, embedded systems, or C++ six degrees of freedom simulations.
  • Possess strong software programming skills, with an understanding of electrical signals and the communication of embedded systems.
  • Are eligible to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately secure a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will undergo a government security clearance investigation and must meet the criteria for access to classified information. Eligibility includes U.S. citizenship.

  • Have extensive experience in designing and establishing hardware-in-the-loop test environments.
  • Have a background in creating high-fidelity (6-dof) software simulations for aerial platforms (missiles, aircraft, projectiles).
  • Are familiar with weapon systems such as missiles, hypersonics, seekers, and naval platforms.
  • Have knowledge of one or more of the following: CUDA, FPGA, GIT, compilers, software-defined radio (SDR), RFSoC, networking protocols, object-oriented programming, Python, MatLab, Simulink, and RF systems.
  • Exhibit a willingness and enthusiasm to acquire new skills through documentation, training, examples, and experimentation.
