Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Kibana Software Engineer to join our team as a UX/UI Architect, Designer, and Developer. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering a unified User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) that provides a holistic single-pane-of-glass interface for an integrated solution on the Kibana platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and design user experiences, making strategic user-experience decisions while working closely with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Conduct usability studies and proactively identify and devise solutions for issues with the existing experience, tracking success of experience-focused changes and iterating as necessary to improve performance.
  • Conduct UX research interviews, prototype reviews, surveys, and usability sessions to gather insights and inform design decisions.
  • Develop personas, user flows, scenarios, user stories, goal/task analysis, system workflows, and other key tools of user-centered design to simplify and enhance the insights acquired from complex data analytics platforms.
  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, and work collaboratively to create mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Apply visual design principles, including visual hierarchy, proximity, similarity, font selection, and color theory, to create visually appealing and effective user interfaces.
  • Design, support development, document, test, and deploy applications and UI prototypes written by software teams in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Support the creation of Kibana visualizations and dashboards using React, JavaScript, and HTML.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a relevant technical discipline and 4+ years of related experience obtained through any combination of coursework and internships.
  • Software development experience with Python, Java, and SQL, with working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.
  • Experience with distributed version control software such as Git and Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of Software Engineering.
  • Experience developing software on a UNIX command line platform.
  • Strong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team.
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret DoD Security clearance prior to start date.
  • Ability to obtain Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification within 14 days of start date.
  • Must be able to commute to Scott AFB, IL, Ft. Meade, MD, or Ogden, UT two/three times per week for on-site support.
  • 2+ years of UX/UI architecture, design, development, and delivery experience. Strong documentation skills with a proven ability to develop architecture diagrams and wireframes.
  • 1+ years of demonstrable experience designing, developing, and deploying dashboards and reports using the Elastic stack, including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats.
  • Experience in architecture, design, development, and delivery of data-driven operations capabilities within a DoD environment.
  • Experience working with a highly technical team and in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Git repository.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, systems engineers, and architects.
  • Candidate must be able to work with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work well/collaborate with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and practices.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboards.
  • Elastic/Kibana Certified Engineer.
  • Software design and development experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JSON/REST APIs in a cloud environment (AWS is a plus).
  • Experience developing, building, and deploying software using Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible (or equivalent tools).
  • Experience with big data applications.
  • Experience with cloud-based AWS services.
  • Knowledge of designing, developing, and deploying solutions using DevOps/DevSecOps concepts.
  • Experience developing and deploying software in a DoD environment (DISA experience is a plus), including experience building and deploying software applications that meet DoD security standards.
  • Experience working remotely with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Experience or familiarity with Agile development and testing methodology.
  • Experience with DISA and DoD Networks.
  • Experience with big data applications.
  • Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps, Configuration as Code, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD implementation.
  • Understanding of network routing devices and network device configurations.
