Supervision Structure

This role operates under the general oversight of the Public Information Supervisor.

Position Summary

The Public Information Specialist plays a crucial role in managing social media initiatives, facilitating outreach programs, and enhancing promotional activities. This position also involves assisting with website development and maintenance, creating various media formats, and monitoring legislative and agency activities.

  • Manage and coordinate social media initiatives, contributing to the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of outreach and public awareness campaigns.
  • Oversee website maintenance and contribute to its ongoing development.
  • Create and design print and digital media, including flyers, posters, reports, and other communication materials.
  • Coordinate events, ensuring effective publicity, supply management, and operation of audio-visual equipment.
  • Assist in tracking and monitoring legislative developments.
  • Engage in additional projects as assigned.

Employment Requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Experience in website maintenance and multimedia content creation.
  • Skilled in designing promotional materials like flyers and brochures.
  • Expertise in outreach and event coordination.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience with various social media platforms.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in website maintenance.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently under tight deadlines while managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 lbs.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with one to three years of related experience, or a Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with three to five years of experience is required.

Language Proficiency:

  • English is required.
  • Spanish is beneficial but not mandatory.

Compensation:
