Position Title: Community Engagement Specialist

Salary Range: $43,680 - $45,760 plus benefits

Employment Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Overview: The Community Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in connecting patients, families, and community members with educational and community resources in South Los Angeles, ensuring their overall wellbeing and quality of life. A primary duty of this role is to build and nurture trusted relationships with patients, families, and community residents.
  • Facilitates patient recruitment and retention across various SCFHC Clinic locations and within SCFHC's designated service areas.
  • Manages the storage, transportation, and maintenance of SCFHC outreach equipment (e.g., canopies, tables, chairs) to designated venues.
  • Prepares, transports, and distributes SCFHC outreach and marketing materials to the community and at events.
  • Engages with faith-based organizations, educational institutions, and community-based organizations to foster partnerships and collaborations.
  • Reports all partnership opportunities to the direct supervisor.
  • Keeps an accurate outreach activity tracking log and maintains appropriate records and inventory in accordance with SCFHC policies.
  • Communicates with individuals in a culturally sensitive, professional, and empathetic manner.
  • Distributes informational flyers and educational materials through tabling or canvassing efforts.
  • Innovates marketing strategies to promote SCFHC services effectively.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with community resources in the area is essential.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in a community clinic or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting is required.
  • Valid California Driver's License is necessary.
  • Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English is required.
  • Experience working with patients from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and those with limited literacy is preferred.
