Job Overview

The Senior Prevention Coordinator plays a crucial role in delivering evidence-based programs to youth within our community and Clubs. The aim is to empower children and adolescents to adopt positive behaviors, enhancing their skills in communication, decision-making, self-management, and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Participation:

  • Responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of eligible youth into the program.
  • Ensure participation targets and objectives are met effectively.

Curriculum Implementation:

  • Act as a liaison among schools, organizational staff, and program personnel.
  • Deliver services and activities tailored to the needs of enrolled participants.
  • Maintain fidelity to the established curriculum.

Activity Coordination:

  • Conduct prevention-focused activities.
  • Ensure high-quality programming and engagement.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reporting.
  • Assist in onboarding new Prevention Educators.
  • Contribute to the development of programs and departmental initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a Prevention Educator role.
  • Valid APS certification is mandatory.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to work regular program hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Exhibit qualities of a positive role model.
  • Demonstrate patience and understanding with youth and adults.
  • Proficient in facilitating, teaching, or instructing.
  • Skilled in networking and building positive relationships.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth populations.
  • Familiarity with technology and software, including tablets and virtual meeting tools.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of substance use issues, including alcohol and tobacco.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Pass agency background checks and drug screenings as required.
  • Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience or knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement is advantageous.
