Water Institute Director

Job Summary:

The University of Florida is seeking a highly qualified Director for the Water Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Institute's research, education, and outreach efforts, as well as developing and implementing strategic plans to advance the Institute's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Water Institute's research, education, and outreach efforts, including developing and implementing strategic plans to advance the Institute's mission.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and other academic institutions.
  • Oversee the Institute's budget and financial management, including securing funding and managing grants.
  • Recruit and manage a team of faculty and staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating personnel.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the Institute's compliance with university and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the University of Florida and the Water Institute at national and international conferences and meetings.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a research or academic setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Ability to secure funding and manage grants, with a strong track record of securing external funding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading interdisciplinary research teams and developing strategic plans to advance research goals.
  • Strong network of contacts in the water research community, including government agencies, industry partners, and other academic institutions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with university and regulatory requirements.
