Job Summary:

The University of Florida is seeking a highly qualified Director for the Water Institute. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the institute's research, education, and outreach efforts, as well as developing and implementing strategic plans to advance the institute's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Water Institute's research, education, and outreach efforts, including developing and implementing strategic plans to advance the institute's mission.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and other academic institutions.
  • Oversee the institute's budget and financial planning, including securing funding from external sources.
  • Recruit and manage a team of faculty and staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating personnel.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the institute's compliance with university and external regulations.
  • Represent the Water Institute at national and international conferences and meetings, as well as with external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a research or academic setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Ability to secure funding from external sources, including government agencies and private foundations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading interdisciplinary research teams and developing strategic plans to advance the institute's mission.
  • Strong network of contacts in the water research community, including government agencies, industry partners, and other academic institutions.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets, including securing funding from external sources.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to recruit, train, and evaluate personnel.
