Job Title: Facilities Operations Supervisor

Overview:

Position Summary:

The Facilities Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the custodial program within a designated educational facility. This role ensures compliance with established guidelines set forth by the Facilities Management Department.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC).
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of all mechanical systems and auxiliary equipment.
  • Diagnose issues with malfunctioning equipment and communicate findings promptly to the Facilities Management Department.
  • Keep accurate records of fuel consumption and prepare efficiency reports as necessary.
  • Order and manage inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Assist in evaluating custodial staff performance and provide guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and security standards throughout the facility.
  • Oversee the maintenance of fire safety equipment and conduct security checks as required.
  • Coordinate custodial support for after-school events and activities.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Supervise and direct custodial staff, ensuring effective completion of assigned duties.
  • Maintain records related to pest control and assist with pest management as necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist with snow removal efforts to ensure timely reopening of the facility.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with two years of experience in custodial or mechanical fields, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.

Applicants must possess a Fourth Grade Stationary Engineer's License issued by the appropriate state authority and may be required to obtain pesticide application training and certification.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to read and prepare requisitions and labels, ensuring accountability for the custodial inventory.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving ladders and various mechanical equipment.

Strong communication skills are essential for providing clear directions and supervising staff effectively.
