Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN), your responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments, formulating care plans, and implementing and evaluating care.

As part of the interdisciplinary care team, you will collaborate with other members to ensure the safe and effective delivery of care.

  • Formulate and adjust care plans based on patient responses to treatment, regularly evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Consult and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, assess, and modify care plans to meet patient needs and objectives.
  • Administer medications and perform treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to non-licensed staff, adhering to practice standards.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients.
  • Deliver educational materials to patients and their families regarding care and treatment options.
  • Facilitate discharge planning in collaboration with the care team.
Requirements

Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Experience in an acute care environment is preferred.
Education
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If holding a Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
