JOB OVERVIEW

Wood is seeking a skilled Control Room Operator with significant experience in the oil and gas sector. This role is essential for the efficient operation of hydrocarbon processes.

WORK AUTHORIZATION: Candidates must have the legal right to work in the US without sponsorship from Wood.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Control Room Operator will work under the guidance of the Commissioning Manager. Key responsibilities include executing cause and effect testing as per established procedures, coordinating with technical teams, and providing precise reporting to both the Commissioning Manager and the Client.

KEY OBJECTIVES: Operate, monitor, and control hydrocarbon processes and utility systems safely and efficiently, adhering to project and regulatory standards to meet project goals.

CORE DUTIES

SAFETY COMMITMENT: Uphold Wood's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all project phases. A strong focus on personal and team safety is crucial.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously monitor process and utility equipment, promptly identifying and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Operate designated equipment as instructed within the assigned area.
  • Make adjustments to optimize plant efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams during plant shutdowns and restarts to minimize downtime.
  • Act as Area Authority for designated facility areas, ensuring safe isolation and de-isolation of equipment for Permit to Work (PTW) compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with all PTW regulations for work performed in the designated area.
  • Keep accurate records of plant and equipment operations as required.
  • Conduct shift handovers to ensure seamless and safe facility operations.
  • Meet production project Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
  • Engage in emergency response teams to ensure readiness for quick and effective action during emergencies.
  • Work with the Production Team Leader to identify and suggest improvements for enhanced production and operations.
  • Coordinate fluid sampling on hydrocarbon processes and utility systems, collaborating with laboratory technicians for analysis.
  • Participate in risk assessments as necessary.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and personnel.
  • Foster positive working relationships with supervisors and staff from other departments.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and follow instructions accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS: To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge:
  • Extensive experience in Control Room operations is essential.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Multi-skilled operator with control panel experience, capable of performing general production operator tasks.
  • Experience with testing safety and process control instrumentation, lubricating valves, and conducting PSV testing.
  • T-2 Certification and experience with commissioning and start-up processes of plants or production facilities.
Education and Experience:

A combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities is required. Typically, three to five years of relevant experience in the offshore oil and gas industry with control room or production operator experience is expected. Some college education is preferred but not mandatory.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

T-2 Certification is advantageous.
