Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

This role involves the development and upkeep of the computer systems essential for managing refinery operations. The incumbent will be tasked with ensuring high levels of precision by selecting, designing, procuring, installing, developing, commissioning, and maintaining control systems.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering is required
  • An advanced degree in Process Controls is highly preferred
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
  • 3-10 years of experience in process control engineering and execution, ideally with Honeywell TDC-3000, Experion, or Delta V control systems
  • Experience or coursework in Visual Basic Scripting and PC Networking is advantageous
  • Proficient in Windows and capable of diagnosing and replacing PC hardware
  • Familiarity with field instrumentation and its operational functions
  • Experience or coursework in programming PLC ladder logic is beneficial
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedules to meet refinery deadlines and address unforeseen challenges
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engineering and maintenance of control and optimization applications, defining unit control objectives and constraints, programming controller variables to meet these objectives, and developing models from unit testing.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Operations to optimize targets and constraints, ensuring the effective implementation of these targets.
  • Engineering and maintenance of regulatory control applications to support operational needs and control applications, including developing correlations and calculated variables.
  • Design, implement, and maintain supporting applications for process control, such as PHD/LIMS, Doc 3000, and Integrity MOC, while providing necessary training and consulting to personnel.
  • Advise management on long-term strategic directions for control applications, developing AFE's and budget items for all controls and supplemental applications.
  • Engineer and install computer control systems by evaluating available hardware and software, selecting the most suitable options, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
  • Develop effective operator interfaces for regulatory and control applications, maintaining high standards for graphics, alarms, and other interface components.
  • Install and maintain Local Control Network, Universal Control Network, and Fault Tolerant Ethernet hardware and software, including fiber optic cable and equipment.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors and team members to ensure departmental deadlines are consistently met.
