JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is seeking a skilled Control Room Operator with substantial experience in the oil and gas sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of hydrocarbon processes.

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Control Room Operator will work under the guidance of the Commissioning Manager. Key responsibilities include executing cause and effect testing as per established procedures, facilitating communication with technician teams, and delivering precise reports to the Commissioning Manager and clients.

KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB: Operate, monitor, and control hydrocarbon processes and utilities equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to project and regulatory standards to meet project goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Uphold and implement Wood's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all project phases. A strong awareness of personal and team safety is essential.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously monitor the operational status of all process and utilities equipment, promptly identifying and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Operate designated process and utilities equipment as instructed within the assigned area.
  • Make adjustments to plant and equipment to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams during shutdowns, isolations, and restarts to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Act as Area Authority for designated facility areas, ensuring safe isolation and de-isolation of equipment for Permit to Work (PTW) purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with Permit to Work regulations for all activities within the designated area.
  • Maintain accurate records for plant and equipment as required.
  • Conduct handovers with incoming shifts to ensure seamless and safe facility operations.
  • Meet relevant production project Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.
  • Engage fully in emergency response teams to ensure a prompt and effective response to emergencies.
  • Collaborate with the Production Team Leader to identify and recommend operational improvements.
  • Coordinate fluid sampling on hydrocarbon process plants and utility systems, and facilitate laboratory analysis.
  • Participate in risk assessments as necessary.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and personnel.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and colleagues from other departments.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and follow instructions accurately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS: To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

Knowledge of:
  • Extensive experience in Control Room operations is essential.
  • Over five (5) years of experience in Control Room operations within the oil and gas industry.
  • Multi-skilled operator with control panel experience, capable of performing general production operator functions.
  • Experience with testing safety and process control instrumentation, greasing/lubricating valves, and conducting PSV testing.
  • T-2 Certification and experience with commissioning and start-up of plants or production facilities.
Education and Experience:

A combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities is required. Typically, three to five years of relevant experience in the offshore oil and gas industry with control room/production operator experience is expected. Some college education is preferred but not mandatory.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

T-2 Certification is advantageous.
