The Global Leader for Jurisdiction and Classification is accountable for providing the strategic direction, governance, and operational oversite of the Schneider Electric Classifications Team. The right candidate will lead and manage a global team that engages in daily interactions across engineering, procurement, and the entire company. They will leverage their extensive expertise and knowledge of all relevant export regulations, business practices, and processes to support the execution of Global Export Control Policy and Program here at Schneider Electric. This position will report directly to the VP of Global Export Control and lead a global team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Defining the Global Export Control Classification Strategy, Roadmap and drive the Execution.
  • Partner with business leadership, specifically Engineering, Product Development, Procurement and Sales, across the organization, building strong relationships to enabling the execution of the strategy.
  • Managing the global export control classifications governance team
  • Establish and oversee global export control classification systems and processes (which include but not limited to ECCN/ECN classification and U.S. De-minimis % calculation).
  • Ensuring the process for obtaining necessary export licenses are followed.
  • Staying up to date on new regulations and managing a change process for impacts to SE classifications.
  • Support the company's global export control program as a member of the Global Export Control Center of Excellence (CoE)
  • Provide guidance and training across all functions.
  • Partner with the appropriate export control governance manager for License determination according to the applicable export control classification of products, software & technology
  • Monitor and assess impact of classification regulations and communicate to internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate audits, ensuring data quality and accuracy on global classification database.
  • Manage continuous improvement and digitization of all export control classification, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead/support & advice on internal and external investigations.
  • Provide L3 support and escalations to the Classification L1 & L2 Operations Team.
  • Attend export control classification related seminars/conferences to maintain knowledge on regulatory updates and changes.
  • Provide advice & recommendations to stakeholders in the preparation of letters and other correspondence to vendors, brokers, and other parties involved in export control classification.
  • Provide classification governance reporting

Successful Candidate Qualifications & Skills:
  • bachelor's degree required, advanced degree helpful.
  • Detailed and extensive Export Control Classification (e.g. ECCN/ECN Classification & U.S. De-minimis & etc.) and related licensing requirements required. Knowledge and experience of International Export Control Classification related regulations & licensing requirements would be an advantage.
  • An Interest in technology, products, and product development.
  • Assertive, perseverance, convincing, get buy-in from leaders, and negotiation skills.
  • Business acumen and experience working across business leaders globally.
  • Competent knowledge and experience of international export control regulations and export control program development & management required, preferable in a multinational company.
  • 25% travel domestically and internationally when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to both leading a team and being a team player.
  • Proficiency with MS office applications
  • Excellent oral and written skill
