Job Title: Aerial Lift Operator (CDL Required)

This position entails supporting the removal and clearance of trees along electrical power lines and right-of-ways. An Aerial Lift Operator is responsible for maneuvering an aerial lift device (bucket truck) to access branches that obstruct electric lines.

Pay : Competitive, $27.80-$31.44; Per Hour Based Upon Experience

Key Responsibilities:

Plans, assigns, directs, checks, and coordinates work activities. Secures written or verbal consent from property owners for tree trimming or removal, and communicates with customers regarding access and work details. Fosters and maintains positive relationships with customers and the public through effective work execution and professional conduct. Collaborates with local authorities when obstructing streets or driveways. Ensures the safety of employees and the public in and around the work zone. Establishes barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to safeguard personnel and the public. Accountable for the quality and quantity of work produced while adhering to safety protocols during tree and brush clearance from utility lines. Operates and maintains equipment such as gasoline and hydraulic tools, power saws, winches, buckets, chippers, and sprayers. Operates a bucket near energized lines to eliminate branches and tree debris. Conducts tree and bucket rescue operations. Utilizes hand tools including axes, hand-lines, saws, and pruners. Cleans and disposes of all debris generated from work activities. Applies herbicides selectively to brush and stumps. Trains new team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old. Familiarity with electrical hazards is essential. Must possess a working knowledge of tree and shrub species. The role requires physical stamina, including twisting, lifting, and hand-eye coordination. Willingness to join the local union and pay associated dues is required.

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Entry-level position; no prior experience necessary. Previous experience is advantageous.

Pre-Screening:

Candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and/or MVR check upon offer.

License & Certifications:

A valid commercial Driver's License (CDL) is mandatory.

Safety Considerations:

Given the inherently hazardous nature of this industry and the requirement to work with or near dangerous equipment, employees must possess adequate eyesight to judge distances and coordinate equipment and tools. They should be able to maintain focus for extended periods, endure various weather conditions while completing tasks, and wear personal protective equipment as necessary. Employees must be capable of entering and exiting a vehicle multiple times daily and have the stamina to navigate diverse terrains throughout a standard workday. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for understanding job instructions and managing conflicts professionally.

Employees will work in all weather conditions and may encounter natural elements such as irritating plants and stinging insects. The role involves working near energized components or equipment. Employees will be required to work in traffic. Exposure to high noise levels from machinery, jackhammers, and gas drills is expected, with appropriate hearing protection provided. Employees face risks associated with working near power equipment, traffic, high voltage wires, and falling branches.
