Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Paraprofessional Support Specialist to join our team at JCFS Chicago. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing behavioral, emotional, and academic support to students, while maintaining a safe and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Student Well-being: Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, including those with emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with Teachers: Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans, managing behavior, and providing crisis intervention as needed.
  • Implement Crisis Intervention: Utilize evidence-based crisis intervention techniques, such as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and UKARU, to de-escalate critical situations and ensure student safety.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain open and clear communication with staff, administration, and parents to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Document and Report: Accurately document and report incidents, progress, and concerns to ensure continuity of care and support.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent, ISBE Certified Paraprofessional, and completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Ukeru training.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive challenges.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, and strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
