Behavioral Support Specialist for Therapeutic Programs
1 week ago
Maryhurst is dedicated to providing comprehensive care through our residential programs, community-based homes, and outpatient clinical services aimed at supporting children in need. Our residential initiatives focus on breaking the cycle of abuse, offering treatments that foster hope and facilitate successful transitions for children into more stable, community or family-oriented environments. Additionally, our community and transitional living programs equip survivors of abuse and neglect with essential tools for building brighter futures. The Maryhurst Renewal team collaborates with children, adults, and families facing challenges to identify the right support strategies, effectively removing barriers to success in home, school, and community settings. Renewal offers tailored counseling services, whether in-office, at home, or within school environments.
The Behavioral Support Specialist will be a highly skilled and experienced professional whose primary responsibility is to deliver personalized support to a designated client, aiding the child in maintaining safe and healthy behaviors across residential, community, and educational environments. This role involves direct engagement with the individual client within the program and related contexts (such as schools and community settings), providing clinical interventions designed to stabilize the client's placement. The Specialist is tasked with fostering therapeutic environments and implementing crisis prevention strategies through additional supportive and therapeutic services tailored to individual clients, thereby enhancing their treatment experience.
The Behavioral Support Specialist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate the unique needs of each client and the overall environment, developing and executing behavior support plans and milieu support strategies in partnership with treatment teams and direct care staff. This position also includes supervising activities for clients who have completed their secondary education and providing specialized support for youth requiring additional assistance. Furthermore, the Specialist will create and maintain an Independent Living Skills (ILS) training plan based on assessment outcomes, ensuring a thorough understanding of individualized treatment plans.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Substantial experience in child care or supervision of children and/or adolescents, or in delivering therapeutic interventions for clients with significant emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Availability for all shifts is necessary.
- Applicants must be prepared to perform 'Safe Crisis Management,' a technique utilized to safely manage or transport a resident who may be experiencing a behavioral crisis. Maryhurst offers extensive training opportunities for all employees who will interact directly with clients.
- Compensation will vary based on experience and educational background, with a starting rate ranging from $17.60 to $25.00 per hour.
